It is important in life to have interests that are of greater value and importance than the mundane. We should be guided by principles and beliefs that are of a greater good and serve not just ourselves but have an impact on the society in which we live.
It is vitally important to believe in a 'Higher Power' that is superior to ourselves. This benefits us in many ways, one of which is that it teaches us humility. Other benefits are that we become enlightened and rise to a greater sense of consciousness. It also imbues us with a high ethic and teaches us morality, things that are vital to a decent and civilized society.
A certain amount of proper patriotism is healthy. It shows that we honor our community and those formed, built, created and gave their lives to create the society in which we live. The bedrock of any civilized society must be rooted in law and justice. A government that has these as their guiding principles ought to be honored and respected.
The nuclear family the the bedrock of all decent and wholesome societies. This is where get nurtured, nourished, educated, loved. Family is where we get exhibited role models that we can emulate. It is our haven and place of refuge.
Culture is an expression or practice and the substance that binds a community by providing a commonality that unites us together. My personal inclination is to aspire to high standard of cultural expressions.
Since I was young, I love the guitar and thought that it was not just a great sounding instrument but a very practical one at that. It is light and you can take it with you. Lacking funds at my youth, I am self taught and derive great pleasure accompanying myself singing.
Since my woodworking shop at school, I became enamored with working with a natural and organic substance. The smell of a freshly cut piece is such a pleasant aroma. Wood is extremely malleable and has many uses. It can be very practical or artistic.
Very few things in life offer such tangible benefits as being rooted by having your feet on the ground and dirt on your hands. The joy of eating what you have planted and raised is indescribable. I have grown everything you can think of and more...
One might say that I'm a 'foodie' and as such I needed to teach myself to cook if I wanted to have proper nutrition and eat delicious food as well. I enjoy fine dining whether I cook myself or go out to a restaurant.
It is important to get out in nature once in a awhile and experience a more primitive existence without the modern luxuries. It helps us to appreciate both nature and it's beauty as well as the modern conveniences we tak for granted.
Navigating on water gives you a sense of adventure that noting else can provide. I once took a trip in Hawaii where they filmed the movie "Indiana Jones"
Electronics always fascinated me. When I was still in school, I built a transistor radio, a shortwave radio and an OHM meter. Later on I started tinkering with computers.
I love working with gold. It is similar to casting crowns. Once I made a lion's head for myself with stones set in. I made many types of jewelry of this nature for my daughters.
The desire to fly was a passion of mine that would take my breath away. I pursued this passion by taking flying lessons, both flight school and ground school. I even flown in gliders.
Space travel was a fascination for me. I was in love with NASA and all of the rocketry. When I was still in school, I built several rockets together with my brother and we launched them. After my son was born I did the same with him.
Riding horse is a passion of mine. I don't ride often as I wish but when I do, it leaves me with lasting impressions. Dressage events and the British riding style are my most cherished.
There is no better form of education and adventure as traveling. I have criss crossed the United States several times and have been to four of the Hawaiian islands. I've been to several countries abroad and intend to keep on traveling. Bon Voyage!
A NUCLEAR FAMILY IS THE CORNERSTONE OF A CIVILIZED SOCIETY
